Cricket Media Wins 11 Gold Awards in 2018 Parents’ Choice Awards

Award-winning Content Now Also Cornerstone of Global Education Company’s eMentoring Programs (L. WOLFE COMMUNICATIONS)

WASHINGTON, D.C. – January 22, 2018 Cricket Media today announced that all 11 of its children’s magazines won Gold Awards in the 2018 Parents’ Choice Awards. The global education company is now the most-awarded publisher by Parents’ Choice. Cricket Media’s magazines have garnered 159 Parents’ Choice Awards over the program’s 39-year history. The award recognizes the top children’s magazines as voted upon by the Parents’ Choice Awards committee members, including families and educators from across the country.

Honored with the Gold Award, which recognizes the highest quality, most appealing products in their genre, Cricket Media’s family of physical/digital magazines are designed for children pre-school through age 14, and the reading leveled content covers a range of standards-aligned topics, including science, history, literature and culture. The magazines take a unique children’s point of view to deliver concepts and ideas tailored to readers’ age ranges. They include Ask (ages 6-9), Babybug (infant-3 years), Cicada (ages 15 and up), Click (ages 3-6), Cobblestone (ages 9-14),Cricket (ages 9-14), Dig (ages 9-14), Faces (ages 9-14) , Ladybug (ages 3-6), Muse (ages 9-14), and Spider (ages 6-9).

Following the rigors of a lengthy multi-level evaluation process, the judges had high praise for Cricket Media’s magazines in their reviews. The judges lauded the company’s flagship publication, Cricket, as “an outstanding literary magazine geared toward tweens and early teens that has delivered entertaining, thought-provoking and ever-fresh works of fiction, non-fiction and poetry since the 1970s.”

“We are honored to once again have our entire portfolio of magazines garner top honors from the prestigious Parents’ Choice Awards,” said Nina Zolt, founder of Cricket Media. “And we are committed to ensuring that as many children as possible have access to our engaging and edifying content through our magazines, our eMentoring programs and our discounts for Title I schools and communities. We are also proud that many major educational publishers and assessment companies recognize the quality of our content and embed it in their products.”

CricketTogether, Cricket Media’s first eMentoring program, launched in 2017, with prestigious sponsors such as The Teaching Company. The program combines the company’s award-winning content with a safe online platform to provide teachers with a free and motivating way to help their grades 3-5 students become more expert readers, thinkers and writers, with support from 1:1 eMentors. CricketTogether won Best of Show from Tech & Learning magazine at ISTE 2017.

In addition, beginning in February 2018, Cricket will launch TryEngineering Together in partnership with IEEE, the world’s largest technical professional organization advancing technology for humanity. TryEngineering Together will use Cricket Media content to help teachers put grades 3-5 students on the path to STEM futures, with the help of STEM enthusiast eMentors.

About the Parents’ Choice Awards

Designed to help parents and caregivers of all achievements and backgrounds make informed decisions about which new products are right for their children, the Parents’ Choice Awards is the nation’s oldest nonprofit program created to recognize quality children’s media. The Parents’ Choice Awards program honors the best material for children: books, toys, music and storytelling, magazines, software, videogames, television and websites. Parents’ Choice Foundation’s panels of educators, scientists, performing artists, librarians, parents and, yes, kids themselves, identify the very best products for children of different ages and backgrounds, and of varied skill and interest levels.
