Program Coordinator (eMentoring)

We are Cricket Media®, a global education company creating high-quality print and online learning products for children, adults, families, mentors, teachers, and partners that improve learning opportunities for everyone.  Led by our 9 award-winning children’s magazines and our customizable research-tested collaborative learning programs, including NeuLingo, NeuABC, and Fluent City language learning, and CricketTogether and TryEngineering Together eMentoring platforms, we are committed to creating and supporting innovative learning experiences that help children and adults safely explore and engage with their expanding world.

About Cricket Media’s eMentoring Programs:

CricketTogether (CT), a literacy-skills building eMentoring program, and TryEngineering Together (TET), a STEM-focused eMentoring program, created in partnership with IEEE, promote collaborative, authentic, and ambitious literacy and subject-matter learning. Also, in partnership with MENTOR, our Virtual Mentoring Portal (VMP) partners with mentoring nonprofits to provide them our eMentoring technology and service.

Our programs pair 3rd-8th grade students 1:1 with volunteer eMentors.  While reading and discussing articles together, over the course of a school year, each student/eMentor pair develops a relationship through ongoing correspondence, conducted in a safe and secure online learning platform, stocked with engaging, Lexile-scored, standards-aligned reading material and critical-thinking resources/prompts.  By connecting students with caring adult role models (and high-quality content), our programs cultivate curiosity, critical thinking, literacy, and independent learning skills in students, while offering a uniquely rewarding virtual CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) experience to corporate sponsors and their  employees.

About the Position:

At Cricket Media, we believe a diverse team leads to diversity in thinking, making our products better for teachers and students around the globe. If you read this job description, feel excited about what you see here, and believe you could bring passion and commitment to the role, but you aren’t sure you meet every qualification, please apply!  Above all, we are looking for the right person!

Cricket Media is seeking an ambitious, caring, analytic, adaptive, and detail-orientated eMentoring Coordinator who is a real-time problem solver with a sense of humor and boatloads of administrative savvy, to help us nurture and manage our eMentoring programs and community.

The eMentoring Coordinator is an integral part of Cricket Media’s Education Department and our learning community.  Equal parts program coordination/development and user community support, the primary role of the eMentoring Coordinator is to ensure that students, teachers, and eMentors participating in Cricket Media’s eMentoring programs have smooth and enriching experiences.  Our eMentoring Coordinator is truly an on-the-ground partner, understanding and supporting the needs of teachers, schools, and students within our program.

Collaborating and reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Education Products, interfacing directly with our Support and Tech teams, the Coordinator monitors and (you guessed it …) coordinates day-to-day operations, interfacing directly with  external sponsors, eMentors, and teachers.  The Coordinator has a finger on the pulse, acting as both a first responder and as a strategic architect, tending to the maintenance and evolution of the eMentoring programs and community.

  • Coordinating the day-to-day operations and online communities of CT, TET and VMP, keeping large numbers  of participants on schedule and engaged
  • Monitoring program/product usage, producing internal and external program reports on an ongoing basis
  • Working collaboratively with the Education and other Cricket Media teams (e.g., Legal, Marketing, Sales, Tech, and User Support) to continue to deliver rewarding experiences to all participants
  • Training program participants, designing and conducting webinars, demos, and online professional development to support program implementation as well as sales

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • BA/BS, or equivalent degree
  • 3-5 years of experience coordinating programs and complex projects as well as coordinating large groups of users/participants
  • Ability to lead by example – be a manager and leading contributor, able to define, produce, and execute upon projects in an independent manner
  • Deadline and detail oriented with ability to multi-task with and work in a high-energy, fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Demonstrated skills in organizing and interpreting data, maintaining schedules, and real-time problem solving – ability to rapidly resolve issues and recognize when escalation is necessary
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – seeking a versatile, thoughtful, organized, efficient individual who feels comfortable and confident both writing and speaking to a variety of audiences (colleagues, clients/sponsors, and teachers alike) for a variety of purposes (e-mail communications, press releases, reports, training decks, site copy, etc.) and exercises good judgment in the frequency and nature of their communications
  • Tech Savvy – proficient in Office 365, Adobe Creative Suite, Trello, etc., and is quick to pick up new applications
  • Experience in Education, non-profit program coordination, and volunteer management preferred
