International Business Analyst – Chinese Cultural & Education Expertise

Location:  McLean, VA

 

Cricket Media’s In2Books Division is looking for qualified candidates with strong analytical capabilities, Chinese specific cultural expertise, business modeling experience, presentation-building skills, marketing experience and research expertise, project management and coordination and a solid understanding of social media and technology-based solutions including software-as-a-service (SaaS). Previous exposure to Chinese K-12 education and international markets is also preferred.  This position will specifically support our Chinese partnership, as well as additional international growth of the Cricket Media platform and social learning network media businesses.  This includes the analysis, research market conditions in local, regional, or national areas, determination of potential sales of a product or service, marketing planning and deployment, online support between American and Chinese classrooms, International social learning analysis and design, product localization and deployment, technical documentation, presentations, corporate development, and assisting with launching international products, including China.  This role also may gather information on competitors, prices, sales and methods of marketing and distribution.  The ideal candidate will have experience dealing with the broad range of both personality and management styles of high profile, demanding partners, customers, investors, and senior management.

 

Required:  Undergraduate degree or higher.  Ability to understand the cultural, social and educational (K-12 specifically) environment in which Mandarin is used.  Excellent oral and written communication skills.  Ability to produce well-written, accurate business and technical documentation, summaries, translations, and reports in American English.  High energy with ability to work in a fast-paced environment.  Significant attention to detail.  Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products (including advanced skills with spreadsheet software such as Excel and presentation tools such as PowerPoint).  Internet research skills and an understanding of educational, social and computer network communications fundamentals.  Knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulations pertaining to conducting business in the Chinese K-12 educational arena. Knowledge of program and service marketing.  Demonstrated knowledge of Chinese publications and web marketing.  Experience coordinating English language programs for international students.  Experience in creating high-quality marketing and pitch materials.  Passion for promoting education and a love of learning.   Experience with digital and online products and services.  Strong presentation, facilitation skills, analytical ability, managerial ability and professionalism.  Strong analytical and product management skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements.  Some travel required.

Director – Business Development

The Business Development Director will play a lead role in setting strategy and partnership direction for Cricket Media. The Business Development Director will be central to executing on new revenue and business opportunities, including in the areas of content and platform licensing, digital product development and distribution, and growth of products and services in China and in other international markets.  The Business Development Director will have significant exposure to executive management and will work across a broad set of internal and external partners.

 

Required:  BA/BS and 5+ years of experience in business development and/or strategic partnership development and execution.  Preferred:  MBA or JD plus experience in ed tech and/or education media.

Assistant Editor

Location:  Downtown Chicago, IL

 

The Assistant Editor will proof digital content for publication, verifying accuracy of text and narration for children’s digital reading products. Other duties include posting calls for submissions, reviewing submissions, proofing pages, and assisting with online writing forums. Our creative team is small, tight-knit, and closely collaborative. We’re looking for someone ready to give and receive constructive, creative feedback and join us in shaping the voice and vision of our unique, award-winning magazines for children. Cricket Media’s aesthetic aspirations are sky-high, and the ideal candidate will be smart and industrious with a publishing background and a commitment to children’s intellectual growth and development.

Production Management Coordinator

Location:  Downtown Chicago, IL

 

 The Production Management Coordinator (PMC) will work closely with the Director of Editorial, the Program Management Office, and the creative teams by maintaining production schedules of all print and digital projects. This includes coordination for content subject selection and scheduling based on input from multiple distribution channels. The PMC understands fast-paced, overlapping production schedules and can work with creative teams for maximum efficiency; is passionate about collecting and defining requirements, creating and managing schedules, developing detailed plans, assigning tasks, managing expectations, and having the ultimate responsibility to ensure projects are delivered “on time and in scope”; proactively assesses risks and works aggressively to remove roadblocks in the development process, pulling in appropriate internal and external resources as needed, while ensuring all stakeholders are continually updated as to a project’s status; closely monitors resource utilization across the organization, looking for opportunities to continuously improve the throughput (velocity) of project delivery.  The ideal candidate will be smart and industrious with a publishing background and the ability to understand multiple workflows.

Graphic Designer

The Graphic Designer creates fun, engaging content for children. This is an excellent opportunity for an imaginative person who understands the difference between telling and showing when communicating with kids. You’ll train within a creative team, working with editors and art directors on the creation of children’s magazines and other products. Tasks will include production, layout and some design opportunities, image editing, photo research and tracking, and archiving electronic files.

NeuABC TUTORS

Location:  Online (Remote)

 

Cricket Media seeks experienced and enthusiastic U.S.-based ESL/EFL teachers as tutors for a new online EFL tutoring service designed to help Chinese primary students learn English through a 1:1 match with native English speakers.  As remote tutors, successful candidates will teach online EFL lessons as independent contractors working from home.  Tutors typically work at least 7 hours per week, usually in the early morning or evening hours, based on client volume and needs.  The children, ages 5–12, will be excited to practice English with their tutors in an engaging, interactive 1:1 online setting.  Together, Cricket Media and NeuPals will supply platform training, teaching tips, assignments and scheduling, and tech/scheduling support.
