Cricket Media Partners with PBS Kids to Help Bridge the Summer Learning Gap with Fun-Filled Literacy and Exploration Activities

Local PBS Member Stations Will Have Access to Issues of Cricket’s Award-Winning Science Magazine, CLICK, Copies of “My Nature Notebook” Encouraging Backyard Exploration and More; Summer Partnerships Also Include a Sponsorship of WTTW-TV’s 24/7 PBS KIDS Channel in Chicago

McLean, VA May 23, 2017 – This June, Cricket Media joins with PBS KIDS to help bridge the summer learning gap through PBS’ annual summer learning initiative, “Summer of Adventure”. The announcement was made by Cricket Media CEO, Stephanie Sharis.

Cricket will support the multi-tiered initiative with a variety of media encouraging reading, writing, and exploring. Local PBS stations across the country will have access to engaging resources such as copies of CLICK, Cricket’s award-winning science magazine for kids ages 3-6, “What Did You Do This Summer?” postcards and “My Nature Notebook,” a specially-produced booklet encouraging kids to explore what lives and grows in their very own backyards.

“Cricket Media is thrilled to be a part of PBS’ summer learning initiative,” says Sharis. “Hands-on learning is one of our most important missions, and it drives not only magazine content, but many of our initiatives and programs. And whether reading an issue of CLICK, getting out in nature, or writing about summer adventures, we’re glad our partnership will help enrich the lives of kids in conjunction with the ‘Summer of Adventure’”.

Cricket Media, which recently launched the innovative “Keeping Tech in Check” program to help families balance technology with real life, will also help enrich children’s lives with a sponsorship of WTTW-TV’s 24/7 PBS Kids Channel in Chicago, where Cricket maintains its editorial offices. Sharis says, “WTTW is a like-minded partner, offering engaging content for kids, and we’re excited to be able to help support their award-winning programming throughout early summer”.
