The Need

Mentoring is shown to help young people succeed in school, work and life.

"I have kids who didn’t want to do anything, but they want to write to their mentors. The motivation—seeing these kids who have lost hope in learning want to participate—that’s invaluable. It’s an opportunity to write and share themselves without judgment. Some of these kids normally shut down with learning, but they are asking to write their mentors."

"My job makes it difficult to volunteer in person on a regular basis. An opportunity to volunteer remotely with flexible scheduling is ideal for me."

Barriers to Widespread Mentoring

Travel, coordination, safety, and training barriers make sustainable, at-scale in-person mentoring a practical impossibility.

Breaking through the Mentoring Barriers

CricketTogether’s virtual mentoring approach breaks through mentoring’s traditional barriers enabling impactful, convenient, and rewarding mentoring at scale.

"What I like about having a mentor is they can understand what you are going through. My eMentor has anxiety, and I have anxiety too, so whenever I want to talk to her about my struggles with anxiety it's really good because she understands how I feel."

How It Works

“CricketTogether presented an out-of-the-box scenario that encompassed one of our goals of connecting students to the real world. Once students started interacting with their mentor, they were sold—hook, line, and sinker! Partnering students with volunteer mentors (in the “real world”) shows them how learning has a lifelong impact. It also shows them how relationships matter in the journey of learning. Real people, connected in real life, to real learning opportunities.”
