Nothing Says Holidays Like a Vintage Holiday Cover

If, like me, you were lucky enough to grow up as a CRICKET Magazine reader, you probably measured the time of year and the various holiday seasons by the covers that adorned your monthly delivery of CRICKET. In particular, the December covers always managed to bring a feeling of joy and celebration to my mailbox.

To recapture this same sense of holiday excitement, check out our Pinterest Board of Vintage Holiday Covers from the 1970s to today.

Here’s one I remember showing up in my mailbox:

As you go about your holiday shopping and attend your holiday parties and bake your holiday cookies, take a minute to peruse the simple joys of holiday seasons past. It’s the perfect way to put the craziness of this holiday season in perspective. And, of course, if you loved CRICKET as a child and remember these covers, why not send the same gift of reading to someone you love through a subscription to CRICKET, SPIDER, LADYBUG, or BABYBUG magazines. A subscription is a gift that will keep on giving all year long.

  1. Have you considered making a holiday card selection of favorite covers? I actually have most Cricket magazine from 197? to approx. 2010 tucked away on shelves in my house.
