Introducing NeuLingo, an Online Mandarin Chinese Learning Program!

It’s always exciting for our Cricket family when we get to launch something new. While Cricket magazine has been around for over 45 years, we’re always adding and creating new ways to challenge and inspire kids of all ages and interests. This week, we’re thrilled to announce NeuLingo, a new program that provides one-on-one Mandarin Chinese tutoring for kids ages 5-16. We can’t wait to share it with you!

The inspiration behind NeuLingo

For several years now, Cricket Media has worked closely with Neusoft, a major education and technology company in China. In 2017, we partnered up to create NeuABC, a program designed to help kids in China learn English from qualified ESL teachers. As NeuABC has continued to expand, we realized that there was also a demand for Chinese lessons in North America.

Studies have shown great benefits to learning Mandarin from an early age. Studying another language encourages cultural understanding between countries, exposes students to a wider world, and can even lead to improved international relations in the future. Mandarin language skills can also be useful when students are applying to colleges or jobs in the future.

While there are over 300 million English-language learners in China, only 200,000 students in the USA are actively studying Mandarin. We want to make Mandarin Chinese lessons more accessible to American families.

How does NeuLingo work?

Every child has different needs when it comes to learning a new language, which is why NeuLingo uses one-on-one tutoring sessions to teach Mandarin. NeuLingo offers three different Mandarin language courses for different levels of proficiency. That means that no matter what your child’s skill level may be, there’s a perfect program tailor-made for their nees.

Happy NeuLingo was created for beginners who have little to no experience with Mandarin. Aimed at ages 5-12, this colorful program teaches both speaking and writing skills.

Scholar NeuLingo was designed to teach intermediate speakers ages 5-16 who are looking for extra practice and instruction. It’s a great choice for heritage learners living in North America who want to speak, read, and write more fluently.

Fly NeuLingo focuses on Chinese culture as well as Chinese language learning. Explore Chinese food, traditions, and history while deepening your familiarity with Mandarin language.

All of these courses have been developed jointly by American and Chinese education teams to meet the benchmarks for the YCT (Youth Chinese Test), HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi) Chinese Proficiency Test, and the ACTFL (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Language).
